This role is critical within our Whangarei-based team as our Gardener. Working on behalf of Whangarei District Council, Citycare Property maintains public parks, gardens and reserves. This role will help us transform our parks and reserves into havens of natural beauty! While we prioritise eliminating invasive plants, we're also dedicated to enriching the park experience. From enhancing horticultural aesthetics to elevating visitor enjoyment, we're committed to creating vibrant and welcoming spaces for everyone to enjoy. This role will be based out of our Whangarei depot covering the broader Whangarei District. The successful applicant must have passion for Horticulture and gardening and be interested in improving the public spaces for the community. 

 

The successful applicant will be responsible for: 

  • Completing work on both a proactive, reactive and scheduled basis 

  • Ensuring that parks and reserves are kept free of pest plants including but not limited to moth plant, tobacco weed, gorse, convolvulus etc. 

  • Maintenance of planted areas of ornamental and native plants; assisting with seasonal planting ornamental plant displays and hanging baskets. 

 

The successful applicant will have: 

  • Industry experience of 3 years (desirable) 

  • Relevant horticulture certification or qualification 

  • Full Class 1 driver licence 

  • Physical fitness 

  • Strong work ethic and great communication 

  • Friendly and approachable - you will interact with residents in the community! 

  • Passion for the local community
